Common error messages and fixes
Now and then a task runs into a problem. Most issues are easy to fix yourself. This article covers the common ones and what to do.
A task couldn't access a connected tool
This usually means a connection like Gmail, Slack, or GitHub has expired or was removed on the provider's side.
What to do: Go to the integrations area and reconnect the tool, then ask the task to retry. See Managing connected integrations.
You're out of credits
If a task won't start or stops partway, you may have run out of credits.
What to do: Check your credit balance. Top up or wait for your plan to renew, then start or retry the task. See Billing & credits basics.
A task needs approval before continuing
The task isn't broken — it's paused, waiting for you to approve an action or answer a question.
What to do: Open the task, read what it's asking, and reply or approve. The task continues automatically. See Why a task is paused or asking for approval.
A step failed
A single step can fail for reasons like a tool being briefly unavailable.
What to do: Ask the agent to retry. It will pick up from where it left off. If it keeps failing on the same step, the cause may be outside Hirebase — for example, the connected tool itself is down.
A task looks stuck
It may be working in the background, waiting on you, or queued behind other work.
What to do: Open the task and read its latest step. Refresh the page, send a short nudge, or ask it to retry. See Why a task looks stuck.
A result isn't what you expected
If the result misses the mark, you don't have to start over.
What to do: Reply to the task with specific feedback about what to change. Clear, concrete feedback gets a better revision.
You can't find a result or task
Results stay attached to the task that produced them.
What to do: Look for the task itself, then open it to find the result. If you still can't find it, contact support.
The page won't load or behaves oddly
What to do: Refresh the page. If that doesn't help, try signing out and back in, or use a different browser. If the problem continues, contact support.
When to contact support
If you've tried the steps above and a problem persists, reach out to support from inside the app. Including the name of the task and what you were trying to do helps us resolve it faster.
