When does Kohai ask for approval?
Kohai may ask for missing information or permission to act in a connected app. Whether an action needs approval depends on the agent's settings, the action, and permissions you have already granted.
Agent autonomy
- Auto-run lets the agent carry out routine actions. Higher-risk actions, such as sending an email, still go through approval checks.
- Ask before running asks before actions that change something in a connected app. Reading information does not require approval just because this mode is selected.
Approving an action
Read the proposed action before approving or declining. Where offered, This chat or Always allow lets you authorize repeat actions for that connected account. Not every action supports these options.
A valid permission can let an action run without another prompt. Connecting an app and granting permission for an action are separate steps.
Automation settings
Automations have their own Permissions setting:
- Suggest proposes a task for you to start.
- Draft runs the task and holds external actions for approval, unless a valid action permission applies.
- Auto runs without routine approval prompts, using the permissions you have granted.
Merging or pushing code, changing branch protections, and starting CI or deployments still require individual approval in every mode. Check an automation's setting before relying on it to run unattended.
